Given the recent popularity of Dying Light 2, Dead Island 2 will almost certainly need to differentiate itself from the first game. The schedule of Dead Island 2 is sometime between late 2022 and early 2023, according to industry insider Tom Henderson, ending a nine-year wait for many fans. All that is needed now is a confirmation from publisher Deep Silver. While the conversation did not directly confirm anything, it did hint that Dead Island 2 is on the way. “I can’t talk about Dead Island 2 because it’s not announced as such from the publisher,” Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors said. The company in charge of Deep Silver, Embracer Group, recently had an equity meeting where the company was to answer about the game’s status. Since then, we’ve heard nothing about Dead Island 2 - well, at least until today.The first trailer released for Dead Island 2 was in 2014, teasing the sequel to the popular zombie game Dead Island, which was in 2011. Judging by the expression and words that Lars Wingafor, CEO and co-founder of THQ Nordic, expressed about the second half of released this year, it doesn’t sound like we will be seeing a release for Dead Island 2 anytime soon or at least this year.ĭead Island 2 originally had Yager (Spec Ops: The Line) tasked to develop the sequel to the zombie action game, with Sumo Digital (Team Sonic Racing) confirmed to be taking over development duties in 2016.
